Veteran Raphael Assuncao will square off with Rob Font at UFC 226 on July 7 at T-Mobile Arena, sources told Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The 35-year-old Assuncao heads to the combat sports mecca on a three-fight win streak, one he most recently extended with a third-round KO of Matthew Lopez at UFC Fight Night 120 in November. The stoppage marked his first since June 2013 and improved his promotional record to 10-2.
Font, 30, gets his toughest test yet after picking up five victories in seven walks to the Octagon within the distance. The Massachusetts native was last seen rebounding from an October submission loss to Pedro Munhoz with a statement second-round knockout of Thomas Almeida in his home state at UFC 220 this past January.
In the headliner of International Fight Week’s marquee event, heavyweight king Stipe Miocic defends his crown against light heavyweight titleholder Daniel Cormier.
