Today was supposed to be the day. Jose Aldo was going to get in the gym, hit some pads, work out, get some rounds, and figure out if he would be fighting Conor McGregor on July 11th or not. That’s not the plan anymore. Guilherme Cruz reports, via Twitter, that Aldo won’t be training as planned, and has decided to not fight. This was also announced by Dana White on Sports Center.
It’s definitely not a good sign for fans of Aldo hoping to see him get a win over McGregor at UFC 189. So now Connor McGregor will fight Chad Mendes ranked #2 in the division. Not the fight UFC fans would have hoped for. But will still be a hell of a fight. Got to be bad for the Brazilian fans that were traveling over just for this fight. We’ll I’ll be there at UFC 189 reporting live!
