Two UFC champions are currently sidelined recovering from injuries, but just one will require surgery.
UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis is slated to undergo surgery on his PCL – a knee ligament – in December. “Showtime” was forced to exit a planned encounter with Josh Thomson due to the knee injury.
Meanwhile, UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez will not retire surgery for his injured left shoulder. Velasquez suffered the injury in his win over Junior dos Santos earlier this year and is slated to face Fabricio Werdum once he does return, likely in 2014.
Both news items were reported on UFC Tonight.
