Dana White: GSP-Johny Hendricks Rematch Will Have A Date Soon

UFC president Dana White is nearly 100-percent certain UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will face Johny Hendricks again in the near future.

GSP scored a controversial split-decision victory over Hendricks recently, and promptly stated his desire to step away from fighting for a period of time.

“As far as a rematch, we’re on schedule and I’ll have a date within a couple weeks,” said White, in an interview with the LA Times. “I feel confident that Georges is fine with that and all is on track.”

White also stated that St-Pierre personally told him the rumors of his reason for wanting to stop fighting were not true. It was reported that his father was dying and he was dealing with an unplanned pregnancy.

Initial reports have the GSP-Hendricks rematch possibly taking place around Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas – despite White’s outrage against the Nevada Athletic Commission following the recent fight.

“It’s not the commissioners who I have a problem with, I have great respect for the commissioners,” he said. “I honestly believe change is going to happen, that the athletic commissioners in Nevada will fix the problem.”
