What is it about Kickboxing that attracts you to the sport?

Kickboxing is such a stress relief for me. Not only is it my passion, It’s my therapy.
I’m also becoming very attached to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It is such a complex sport, very empowering and challenging. Through Martial Arts I’ve learned how to face my fears and believe in myself. It’s given me more life lessons then I could’ve ever imagined, and I feel like my journey is just beginning.

Who was your favourite fighter growing up?

I didn’t follow any fighters growing up as I didn’t get into the sport until I was 22. I did however watch a lot of Van Damme, Stephen Segal, and Chuck Norris movies. Serious bonding time with my dad and brother. Van Damme was my favorite. If I had a dollar for every time I watched Bloodsport… I could take a vacation.

What has been your most memorable moment in MMA thus far?

Being chosen to represent Canada in the first women’s teams division at the WKC World Championships in Montreal, Quebec in 2012. To be one of only 3 girls chosen was a great honor. We beat out England in the final to win the gold medal for Canada on Canadian soil. The crowd went crazy. It was an amazing experience I’ll cherish forever.

You have an affiliation with Redemption MMA – why did you choose to support this great cause?

Working for the School System I see how bullying affects teens first hand. No one deserves to be bullied, but unfortunately it’s still a major problem in society. Redemption MMA is bringing more awareness with their Anti-Bullying campaign. I’m very excited to support them in any way I can.
