Nearly three years have passed since Georges St-Pierre last stepped foot inside the octagon, and all signs are pointing to his return at “UFC 206” in November. Even though St-Pierre has entered USADA’s official testing pool and Reebok have already released fight kits with St-Pierre’s name on them, Georges and UFC still have yet to come to terms on a contract.
Tom Wright, the GM for UFC’s operations in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand told Submission Radio that they did not necessarily need St-Pierre or any Canadian for that fact to headline the upcoming “UFC 206” event in Toronto, Canada:
“We don’t need a Canadian, necessarily, to headline the event. The last event that we had in Canada did not feature around a Canadian, so frankly it’s no different than here (in Australia). Our fans are sophisticated fans in Canada, and they’re knowledgeable and sophisticated here in Australia. They want to see great fights, they want to see great competition and they’ll see it in Toronto.”
