Hardy was diagnosed with a rare heart condition earlier this year, and he also turned down a meeting with a top doctor set up by UFC president Dana White.
Several months ago he was told he has Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, which forced UFC officials to remove him from a planned fight scheduled for this past weekend in San Jose.
“Lorenzo (Fertitta) and I called Dan Hardy a couple weeks ago and got him set up with the best cardiologist in the country,” said White, “He didn’t want to go. He’s in serious denial right now. Either denial, or just afraid to hear from somebody that that’s the truth and that’s what’s going on.”
Dana then made a second call to Hardy in hopes of him taking the appointment, but he then stated “I’m going through a lot of stuff personally right now.” Hardy is getting married and said he wants to “put this on the backburner.”
I think everyone is very hopeful that the fighter was misdiagnosed and that he can still be cleared to fight.
