Earlier this week, current Bantam and Flyweight champion of the world Henry Cejudo claimed he, “..[wants] to be the first inter-gender champion of the world,” on Ariel Helwani’s ‘MMA Show,’ by competing against Women’s Flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko.
Shevchenko didn’t shy away from this at all and went in for some light-hearted banter back-and-forth on Instagram, and later going on Ariels show to tell Cejudo to, “Be careful what you wish [for].”
UFC owner Dana White later remarked in MMA Junkies interview that the idea of that match up, “.. is the wackiest sh*t I’ve ever heard in my life.”
While it is hard to believe White would ever allow a fight like this to happen in the UFC, it is not to think it wouldn’t in some other, more unscrupulous, organizations. Valentina Shevchenko could probably fair pretty well with Cejudo if they did fight, but that is a big IF. I don’t want to be on the wrong side of history, but I don’t want to see that fight. Do you?
