Ricardo Lamas is headed home.
A featherweight tilt between the former title challenger and top prospect Mirsad Bektic will go down at UFC 225 on June 9 at United Center in Lamas’ native Chicago. The promotion added the matchup to the bill following reports from MMANytt’s Damon Martin and Combate.
Lamas will look to rebound from a brutal first-round KO suffered at the hands of late fill-in Josh Emmett in December at UFC on FOX 26, which snapped a two-fight win streak and dropped his promotional record to 9-4. The 35-year-old last competed in Chicago in January 2013 at UFC on FOX 6, where he beat Erik Koch bloody for a second-round TKO.
The highly touted Bektic has gotten his hand raised in all but one of his six walks to the Octagon, most recently atoning for a stunning TKO loss to Darren Elkins at UFC 209 with a first-round knockout of Godofredo Pepey at UFC on FOX 27 in January.
The star-studded UFC 225 features a headlining tilt between middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero, an interim welterweight title bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington in the co-main event, and a newly announced women’s featherweight fight between Holly Holm and the debuting Megan Anderson.
