Pat Curran was likely overjoyed to hear they would have their champions fight more often in 2013.
Curran, defeated Shahbulat Shamhalaev, is already looking forward to his next title defense of the featherweight title.
“As long as I’m healthy and have no injuries, I want to get right back at it,” Curran said. “That’s up to (Bellator CEO) Bjorn (Rebney) and the guys, and my coaches.
Curran mentioned returning this summer during the annual “Summer Series”. Daniel Straus is a potential challenger, but he was recently arrested on drug charges shortly after suffering an injury that knocked him out of a planned fight with the champion.
He also recently signed an extension with Bellator, so he isn’t going anywhere in the immediate future.
