A rematch seven years in the making, Belfort takes on Henderson in Goiania, Brazil.

October 21st 2006, Pride 32, was the last time these two martial art legends met in the ring. Seven years later, November 9th 2013, they will meet again this time in the octagon. Their previous encounter ended with a unanimous decision victory for Dan Henderson. However, this encounter despite being at light heavyweight, sees Belfort one win away from a middleweight title shot and Henderson fighting his last contracted fight with the UFC.

Dan Henderson enjoyed a wonderful 2011, winning three bouts, two coming against MMA legends Fedor Emelianenko and Mauricio Rua. Hendo put himself back to the top of his game, and earned a shot at light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. However, a knee injury lost him this opportunity, and all also prevented him fighting for the rest of 2012. Returning to action in 2013, Hendo has had two very unfortunate bouts losing to both Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans by split decision. Going into this fight with Belfort, Hendo is on a two fight losing streak and the last fight on his UFC contract. This is a huge opportunity for Dan Henderson to snap his losing streak and gain another contract with the UFC.

Vitor Belfort was given a light heavyweight title fight against Jon Jones on the 22nd September 2012, losing via submission (keylock). However, Belfort put Jones in arguably the worst and most uncomfortable position in his mixed martial arts career when he managed to lock in an armbar. After this loss Vitor decided to drop back down to middleweight where he has had an outstanding 2013. Earning two knock out of the night awards over Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold, Belfort looks in the form of his life and a win against Dan Henderson sees him with a title shot at the UFC middleweight championship.
