An injury to Max Holloway will prevent the featherweight champion from taking on Frankie Edgar for the belt on March 3 at UFC 222, sources told Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The UFC is reportedly expected to announce Holloway’s removal from the card shortly.
It’ll mark the second time the highly anticipated bout between Holloway and Edgar will be postponed. They were supposed to collide Dec. 2 at UFC 218, but Edgar had to withdraw because of injury.
Holloway, 26, has won his last 12 fights, with the last three coming via TKO. Edgar is coming off back-to-back wins but hasn’t appeared in the Octagon since May 13, 2017.
