According to UFC President Dana White, a new ten fight contract for UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is all but a done deal.
“I haven’t talked to Anderson in about a month, but as far as I know, it’s done,” White stated.
Silva has only two fights on his current contract, his next fight will take place at UFC 162 July 6th in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. He takes on the undefeated Chris Weidman. If he wins this fight, Silva will have defended his middleweight title eleven times. He holds the record for most title defenses at ten and is unbeaten in the UFC. Silva carries a record of 16 streight wins.
Being 37 years old we all wonder how much longer he will compete in the octagon. Even with a new ten fight deal, he could still retire.
