Mairbek Taisumov is taking another stab at a stateside trip.
The hard-hitting Chechen appears to have resolved his longstanding visa issues for a lightweight date with Evan Dunham at UFC 223 on April 7 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. The promotion added the matchup to the bill on Tuesday following multiple reports.
Taisumov has won six of seven in the Octagon and five straight by knockout, the last three of which have earned him Performance of the Night honors. The 29-year-old was last seen disposing of Felipe Silva in under 90 seconds at UFC Fight Night 115 in September.
Dunham is unbeaten in his last five, but will look to get back in the win column nonetheless after battling Beneil Dariush to a majority draw in October at UFC 216. The 14th-ranked lightweight heads into the contest with a promotional slate of 11-6-1.
In the main event – the stakes of which remain anyone’s guess – interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson meets Khabib Nurmagomedov, while Rose Namajunas defends her strawweight crown against Joanna Jedrzejczyk – whom she dethroned at UFC 217 – in the co-headliner.
