We are only a few days away from UFC on FX Belfort v Rockhold which will be headlined by a Light Heavyweight bout between Vitor Belfort and the UFC debutant Luke Rockhold.
Vitor Belfort v Luke Rockhold
This is a really intriguing fight between a man that might well be the best his been in his career and a Strikeforce headliner and former champion. Both are coming off impressive victories; both have solid stand up and both wont be overly afraid if the fight goes to the ground so how do you split them? This one comes down to distance for me; if Vitor gets on top early he will finish the fight more than likely in devastating fashion. However if Rockhold can get the fight into the later rounds he could well put an old fashioned beating on Vitor.
Prediction – Belfort defeats Rockhold via TKO in Round 1.
Ronaldo Souza v Chris Camozzi
This one could definitely steal Fight of the Night! Even at 33 Souza still has fight-ending power however his tactics will almost certainly be to get this fight to the ground and submit Camozzi. But don’t be fooled Chris is no slouch on the ground and can be difficult to take down (no doubt he has been doing some extra training on takedown defence). If it goes to the ground Souza wins; if it stays standing this will be a good old-fashioned brawl.
Prediction – Souza defeats Camozzi by Submission (Arm Triangle) in Round 2.
Rafael Dos Anjos v Evan Dunham
Dos Anjos has some scary power and has shown us on numerous occasions that he can end the fight with a single punch; he will no doubt be trying to employ his power game in this one. Dunham’s best chance comes in the form of ground bullying in order to open up submission opportunities; however Dos Anjos is a black belt in BJJ so this will not be easy.
Prediction – Dos Anjos defeats Dunham by TKO in Round 3.
Rafael Natal v Joao Zeferino
Natal is a continually improving fighter who is very dangerous on the ground but is not afraid to stand in the pocket and trade if he smells blood. After a slow start to his career Zeferino has pulled together an impressive string of wins utilising his strong ground game. I’m presuming this will be a bit of a BJJ showcase between 2 capable practitioners.
Prediction – Natal defeats Zeferino by Unanimous Decision
Nick Lentz defeats Hacran Dias by Unanimous Decision.
Francisco Trinaldo defeats Mike Rio by Submission (RNC) in Round 2.
Gleison Tibau defeats John Cholish via Unanimous Decision.
Paulo Tiago defeats Michel Prazeres by Submission (Armbar) in Round 1.
Yuri Alcantara defeats Iliarde Santos via Unanimous Decision.
Fabio Maldanado defeats Roger Hollett via TKO in Round 2.
John Lineker defeats Azamat Gashimov via Submission (RNC) in Round 2.
Chris Cariaso defeats Jussier Formiga via Unanimous Decision.
Jeremy Larson defeats Lucas Martins via TKO in Round 1.
