The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale: Nurmagomedov Returns

Khabib Nurmagomedov will return to action, but the top lightweight contender will not be facing Anthony Pettis.

Or Nate Diaz.

Nurmagomedov instead will take on Tony Ferguson this December at The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale. The event is set for December 11 from Las Vegas, a night before UFC 194.

The unbeaten Nurmagomedov (22-0) has not fought since early in 2014 due to a knee injury. He recently had a “dust-up” with Nick and Nate Diaz at an MMA event.

Ferguson (19-3) is a former winner of The Ultimate Fighter and has won nine of his 10 UFC bouts, including a recent decision victory over Josh Thomson to stretch his win streak to six.

The fight was first reported by the Los Angeles Daily News.

Below is the current lineup:

Lightweight: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson

Lightweight: Joe Lauzon vs. Evan Dunham

Welterweight: Mike Pierce vs. Ryan LaFlare
